THE OUCC

Membership and how to join

_________________

The OUCC is not a choir with a fixed membership.  We have a mailing list of vocalists, all of whom will receive invitations to future tours.  Tours generally involve between 30 and 40 singers.  The original OUCC mailing was revised in 2000 and the choir attracted new members as a result of publicity in the press and the University's own magazines.  Periodically, the names of members who have not attended courses are removed from the mailing list.  It costs nothing to join the choir.

Whilst many choir members are OU students or graduates, we also welcome friends and colleagues, any or all of whom might be potential OU students.  Who can say?  If you are not an OU student at present please do not feel you cannot join us.  The Choir is not supported by the OU in any way and is therefore not obliged to restrict membership to OU students and graduates.

If you would like to join please contact Rex Whitta.

Members do need to be 18 or over, and to have at least some experience of church music.  So long as members understand that the OUCC exists to sing religious services following the Choral tradition maintained in Britain's (Anglican) Cathedrals, then they can belong to a church, chapel, school, college, university or secular choir of any denomination.

A member reserving a place on any tour may bring one non-singing partner, relative, or friend of 18 years, or over, providing there is space in the accommodation we use.
