We ask members to consider the visual impact of the choir as well as the musical one.
One member has suggested that the rule-of-thumb, for all, should be "The smart, sensible clothes you would wear to church on a Sunday". This does need some clarification.
Choir members now wear the new choir robes which we recently purchased, so no one needs to bring their own gown. Hoods are worn with these gowns, although not for the Sunday Eucharist. It is essential that clothing which will be visible is sober but not sombre. Please do not regard the robes as 'covers' for casual dress.
Gentlemen need a dark (grey, blue or black) lounge suit (or smart jacket with dark trousers) plain shirt (white is best), tie (which may be uniform in due course) and dark shoes.
Ladies should wear light tops (preferable white) which are predominantly plain with dark (preferably black) skirts or trousers.
Sweat shirts (OU or otherwise) and jeans are not permitted for any of the services.
Ladies should not carry handbags (in any manner) into the stalls during processions. Security issues will be discussed on each tour.
Drinking from a bottle is not acceptable during services whatever the weather.
