Pavane
de Bataille Tylman Susato - arr. David
Drinkell
An arrangement for two manuals and pedals which could be made to
work on a one-manual instrument. This is a very 'playable' a

Piano Duet
Loud Insect Colin Ashworth
This piano duet (the title is an anagram of "Colin's Duet") was written over a half-term holiday, especially for two boys [of Grades 2 and 3 standard respectively] to perform in a school concert only a few weeks later. They were sent the parts and returned after their break with most of it 'under their fingers'. It is a 'fun' piece and both parts contain patterns to reduce the time required to learn it. However, the compound quadruple time is a challenge and there are passages which reward careful preparation. 1 = Code 'PA' Primo above Secondo (like the sample on this site) and 2 = Code 'LR' Secondo on the left-hand pages with Primo of the right-hand pages. Score £2.95 Please specify code when ordering.

Piano Duet
Surprise Rag Colin Ashworth
This piece was also composed for two Grade 2-3 pianists to play in a school concert, hence the upper part has only one stave. This is because the 1st player also has to produce [blow!] sound effects in the final section. (The piece is in ternary form). The MP3 file above is from the final section of the music and different sound effects have been used for illustration. Those indicated in the score are Duck, Whistle and Rook call, but any could be substituted. These sounds are the 'surprise' although there are also a few rhythmic changes to challenge the players. Two presentations of the score are possible. 1 = Code 'PA' Primo above Secondo (like the sample on this site) and 2 = Code 'LR' Secondo on the left-hand pages with Primo of the right-hand pages. Score £2.95 Please specify code when ordering.

Piano Trio
Radio Satin (anag. Diana's Trio) Colin Ashworth
This was composed for a local piano teacher who wanted a new trio. I can tell you that writing for six hands at a keyboard is a pretty demanding exercise! The middle player tends to get squashed! It is quite an approachable piece for the listeners; if you are short of time at least hear the end of the midi file just to see how corny it is!
This piece can be
supplied printed or as pdf files which you can print yourself.
