"Surprise Rag" by Colin Ashworth
This piece was composed for two Grade 2 pianists to play in a school concert, hence the upper part has only one stave. This is because the 1st player also has to produce [blow!] sound effects in the final section. (The piece is in ternary form). The MP3 file above is from the final section of the music and different sound effects have been used for illustration. Those indicated in the score are Duck, Whistle and Rook call, but any could be substituted. These sounds are the 'surprise' although there are also a few rhythmic changes to challenge the players.
PRESENTATION: The music can be presented in the format below or with the 2nd and 1st parts on the left- and right-hand pages respectively. If you have a preference please let us know when ordering.
