This new setting uses texts from 'Common Worship' and is written for unison voices and organ. It was revised in 2008 to include all the parts of the service likely to be sung. [Lord, have mercy, Glory to God, Gospel Acclamations, Eucharistic Dialogue, Holy, holy, holy Lord, Blessed is he, Acclamations 1 - 4 (Christ has died etc.), Dialogues for Prayer D, Blessing and honour, The Lord's Prayer, Lamb of God, (and Jesus Lamb of God), 3 Dismissals]
Full copies (the Organ and Vocal score) cost £5.95 each [Postage extra]. There are 13 printed sides on quality A4 paper. The score is wire bound with card and acetate covers front and back. Contact us if you required large numbers of the full music edition.
Vocal parts are also available and these would suit choir members (organ cues have been added) and all members of the congregation, who could also sing from 'Common Worship' itself. The vocal/choir parts are A4 size (folded A3) and priced at 50p each.
Our discount scheme is described on our order form. An order of 2 full scores (for organist and conductor) and 100 copies of the vocal part would cost £55.71 [which would buy you about SIX copies of a typical unison setting from a well known publisher!]

"immediately enjoyable" (Paul Hale: "Organists' Review")
The whole work can now be heard HERE, performed by the Cathedral Chamber Choir
Prices: £2.10 each 1-9 copies: £1.95 each 10-20 copies: £1.85 each 21+ copies
This setting was completed in 2001 and received its first performance in August 2002 in St. Peter Mancroft, Norwich, during the OUCC visit when Colin played the small chancel organ. Although pastiche in style, the music is designed to be memorable, enjoyable and singable. The brief opening organ 'fanfare' recurs as a unifying motif. The S.A.T.B. parts are not difficult, there is hardly any division, and the first soprano does not go above top G.
The Nunc Dimittis was written in 2000 shortly after the death of the composer's organ teacher, Andrew Newberry, and it is dedicated to his memory. Much of the Nunc Dimittis could be sung by a tenor soloist.
By
a cruel twist of fate, as the composer was in the process of
completing the work, there was a serious
fire at Peterborough Cathedral on 22nd November 2001. This
put the famous organ out of action until 2005.
Christopher Gower (Master of the Music) agreed to use this setting for the 2003 Diocesan Choral Festival and the composer, himself once a chorister at the cathedral, waived all fees and royalties (until December 2004) to allow the organ fund to benefit.
Although the canticles were also performed at Southwell Minster in 2003 by the OUCC (this time with Colin conducting and Nick Burt at the organ) it was not until 18th March 2006 that the composer heard the work performed in the cathedral when it was sung by the choir of St. Thomas of Canterbury, Brentwood in a rendition which fulfilled all Colin's expectations and finally realised his vision of how the work should sound. From the opening 'fanfare' of the Magnificat to the final fanfare and arrival of the 32' reed [the microphone was too near the alto section!] at the end of the second Gloria, the setting was greatly enhanced by the acoustic of the building in which Colin had spent so much of his youth and by the skill of the conductor and the performers. Many thanks to David Rooke (conductor), Sarah Stonehouse (organ) and the choir for their hard work.
